I do BEST what I do MOST

Repetition is the key to learning and mastery. I often get asked, "What’s the best way to improve my dog on water blinds?" The short answer: a Water Tune-Up Drill. The repetition for both the dog and the handler is invaluable!

I recommend running this drill 4 to 5 times over a 5–10-day period. It’s like a crash course for your team, helping you rapidly improve. During this time, you’ll run more water blinds than you would in a month or two of regular training. The focused repetition sharpens skills and builds confidence.

To give you a better idea of how it works, I’ve included a video that walks through three legs of a Water Tune-Up Drill I ran last year during Retriever Day School. In the video, I explain the purpose behind the drill, break down key decision points, and you’ll get to watch Jim & Erin execute it in real-time.

So grab a seat, settle in, and enjoy the video!

Dog to the Line,

Pat
